Martin’s passion for developing people and teams has evolved and developed during 25 plus years of commercial experience in corporate industry and consulting. He is fervent about helping individuals and teams to discover and develop behaviours and skills that will enable them to achieve their goals and develop their performance to the next level and beyond. And on top of all that, “…he’s a damn good bloke to have on the TOM team” (Ross)

He has held a number of senior positions in 3 very different industries and worked with numerous different sectors during that time, although much of that was focused on customer service organisations which have had a strong influence on his approach to client relationships.

You’ve gotta have fun!

‘Make it memorable’ is one of the key principles for Martins training or coaching interventions and, making it fun usually makes it memorable as well – all of which is enveloped in the TOM concepts! Basically in Martin’s eyes; “If you look like you’re having fun whilst training and you make the learning engaging and involving, the trainees will probably have fun whilst learning as well and thus remember more for the future!”

Martin started his working life as an Apprentice for British Gas and then subsequently worked as a Gas Service Engineer before discovering his true passion for helping others to learn and develop new skills and behaviours.

He then worked for a spell in the automotive sector in a design centre where he honed his skills in Management and Leadership Development whilst implementing learning projects such as Modern Apprenticeships and Graduate training schemes for the first time into a multi-cultural environment.

From there he moved into FMCG with Kimberly-Clark where he was instrumental in the establishment of a World Class European Shared Service Centre – a truly multi-cultural environment, encompassing Finance, Customer Service, Credit Control and Procurement services from across Europe, where he was responsible for numerous change and people development projects.

Over the last few years Martin has been working as an independent consultant providing professional Learning and Development Consultancy to a predominantly blue-chip clientele.

Martin’s uses the TOM concepts along with other tools to deliver exceptional one to one management and leadership training and coaching as well as team training/coaching and development. He provides expert support to new team managers and leaders ensuring that they ‘hit the ground running’ and get the best from their relationships from the start by building Trust, setting inspiring Objectives and identifying Motivating factors that will drive performance. He has experience of working on a range of change management projects from organisation re-design through to individual behaviour change work.
